My inspiration came from Frida Kahlo’s “Thinking of Diego” and from Mexican designers Paulina and Malinali Fosado. Frieda Kahlo’s “Thinking of Diego” she is dressed like Tehuana people dress. It’s said she dressed this way because Diego liked it. She also has flowers on top of her forehead with Diego under it signifying that from the roots of the flowers she is is trying to trap Diego since she loves him and cannot stop thinking of him. This painting reminded me of traditional Mexico attire because the Tehuana dress is so traditional. For this reason, I chose to go with twin designers Paulina and Malinali Fosado. I was inspired on how they put together the colors and different fabrics together and have a sexier version of the traditional Mexican wear.
